Reflection

When I first started this project, I wasn't sure how I would fulfill the requirements. I had no clue what I was doing in the beginning, but the more things that I learned, the easier the project became. I learned many things throughout the semester. I learned about tier I, tier II, and tier III words and that tier I are the common words that children hear every day. Tier II words are high-frequency words that children will come across when reading and tier III words are words that are found within certain subjects like "meteor " and "photosynthesis." For phonemic awareness, I learned that it is the ability to manipulate the smallest unit of sound in a word. For fluency, I learned that it is the ability to read sentences quickly and accurately and that being able to read depends on fluency. For phonics, I learned that it is a way to connect sounds to letters and for comprehension, I learned that it is essential in being able to read. I learned that read aloud and independent reading is important because it helps the students learn how to read by listening to the teacher and being able to read on their own. Everything that I have learned this semester is important because I need to understand each one if I am to help my students learn how to read as well as learning how to comprehend what they are reading.
